Deterritoriality refers to the weakening or removal of the connection between culture, identity, power, or economic activity and a specific geographical territory. In international relations and globalization studies, it describes how borders become less relevant due to flows of information, capital, people, and ideas that transcend nation-states. It challenges the traditional Westphalian notion that power and sovereignty are bound to fixed territories.
