The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution (Resolution 3314) in 1974 providing a definition of aggression. In international relations, “aggression” means the use of armed force by a State against the sovereignty, territorial integrity or political independence of another State, or in any manner inconsistent with the United Nations Charter. In this context, aggression is considered a violation of international law and a threat to global peace and security.
