This concept is a type of military intervention in which a third party, usually under the auspices of an international organization such as the United Nations, intervenes in a conflict to force the warring parties to cease fighting and implement peace agreements. It is designed to actively establish and maintain peace in conflict zones where observation and negotiation alone may not be sufficient.
