Proxy diplomacy involves using intermediaries or third parties to conduct diplomatic negotiations, advance foreign policy goals, or achieve objectives without the direct involvement of the main parties. The Vietnam War in the Cold War conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union is an example of a proxy conflict. Proxy diplomacy allows states to pursue their interests and manage international relations in a more controlled and sometimes less visible manner.
